Written Choreography

This is so fun and it will really get their heart rate going!

Y Y Y Y= skate, skate, jack out, jack in. "skate" is like an ice skating move with a lunge front and back with alternating arms.

O O O O = skate, skate, jack out, jack in (with a turn to the LEFT) note: music is the same as Y but more intense Also advanced students may want to add in a tuck. skate, tuck, skate, tuck, jack out, tuck, jack in with a turn. Arms swish to the right to assist with turning.

A A A A = skate, skate, jack out, jack in (with a turn to the RIGHT) note: music is the same as Y but more intense Also advanced students may want to add in a tuck. skate, tuck, skate, tuck, jack out, tuck, jack in with a turn. Arms swish to the left to assist with turning.

X X X X = slalom left, tuck, slalom right, tuck (a slalom is where legs remain closed and both legs jump to the right or left while holding the arms out straight, similar to down hill skiing.)

in the works...

Today I worked on Tambourine and Juana Polinaria from ZIN 25 in the pool. I pulled a muscle so I am not going to record them today, so I can rest. I hope to have them up for you all by this weekend. They are a ton of fun! And don't worry I'm not including the choreo that I was doing when I injured myself. LOL

Put Your Drink Down (Warm-Up)

Song Information

Title: Put Your Drink Down
Album: Zumba Fitness© Mega Mix 125 (Available to licensed Zumba© instructors who were ZIN members at the time of release). Put Your Drink Down is also available from Mr. V on the Voices and Visions album on iTunes. I am not sure if it is identical, however the 30s I heard were the same as the ZIN CD.

Song Pattern

and so on...

Written Choreo and Video (there are two video's with this, part AB, and then C)

Even though this song is almost 8 minutes long it doesn't get boring if you build the intensity with the music. Also it will take the class a few sets to pick up the pattern and then get into it. I use this song as a warm up.

A = 1/2 tempo aqua jog for 4 beats then center jog with a bounce and a high knee for 4 beats.

B = Make sure both feet are placed firmly on the floor of the pool. Arms open up for 4 beats and then shimmy the chest for 4 beats. Next Arms close for 4 beats and then do a little boogie dance for 4 beats.

**Option** You can alternate A and B in whatever order you like. If the water is cold do more As than Bs. If the water is really warm do more B. Our pool is around 83 so I do 3 sets of A for every 1 set of B.

Video for parts A and B.

Continue with this pattern until the music changes.

C = After several minutes there is a change in the music from 3:47 until 4:28. At this point I do a ski with a tuck in the middle (ski, tuck, ski, tuck).

Video for part C, demonstrated on one leg.

Then return to alternating A and B until the song ends.

Pusha Pusha (Axe)

Song Information

Title: Pusha Pusha
Album: Zumba Fitness© ZIN 25 (Available to licensed Zumba© instructors who were ZIN members at the time of release). Pusha Pusha is also available from a group called Axe Bahia on their album Positivo. It's not available on iTunes, last I checked, but I was able to order their CD through a seller on Amazon. I LOVE that group.

Symbol key for my version of the choreo

INTRO: standard 1/2 tempo water jog from side to side

- - - - : Destroza for 8 counts in one direction. Then 8 counts in the other direction. **The deeper they are then the closer their legs need to be together.** For example, if water is shoulder level then it will look more like a march with a side hip thrust. Try it in the water and you will see what I mean. Arms swish out to help the body circle.

| | X X: Tuck jump with both legs for two beats then push down with both legs in a wide leg position for two beats.

+ + + +: Hop on one foot while the opposite knee comes up high for two beats, then switch feet.

\ / \ /: Lunges with a propel and pushing down with an open palm. For lower intensity, have the class make a fist and ommit the propel.

M M M M: swirl the water with the hands in an S shape

W W W W: SPANK IT! Nice and slow.

# # # #: Shake the booty football jog style. Yes this can be done in the water!

La Cumbia (Cumbia)

I love doing this one because it is easy on my body and the class has to work really hard, especially after the first side-step. Once the inertia of the water takes over it is a lot of work to move against it. Also it took a few weeks for my class to get over their flabby arm fears and just stick their hands in the air, but keep doing it. The music will eventually compel them to reach up and clap!

Symbol Key:

} = Side step Cumbia ("I'm a Little Teapot" arms) to the right. For a more difficult version turn the torso in the direction you are traveling, instead of toward the class.

{ = Side step Cumbia ("I'm a Little Teapot" arms) to the left. For a more difficult version turn the torso in the direction you are traveling, instead of toward the class.

U = Plant feet firmly on the pool floor and swish the arms in a large arc. For participants with shoulder problems "swish" with the elbows held close to the body.

Nunca Me Viste (Latin Disco)

Song Information

Title: Nunca Me Viste
Album: Aqua Zumba™ Review (You must be a licensed Aqua Zumba™ instructor to obtain this album).

Song Pattern

This pattern is based on the choreography in the DVD and is meant as a visual aid to instructors who already have access to the choreography. I had a hard time memorizing all of the different movements but when I broke it down into patterns it was much easier to count, hear, and memorize. Since I use the choreo from the DVD I will not post any written choreography or video for this song.

Each row is 8 beats of music. To help you find your place "M" is where we do the "shakey shakey" part for four counts before switching to the jacks at "N" for four counts.

Chorando se Foi (Lambada)

Song Information

Title: Chorando se Foi
Album: Zumba Fitness© Mega Mix 15 (Only available to licensed Zumba© instructors who were ZIN members at the time of release). Chorando se Foi is also available from other albums but those may be different from the version I used.

Song Pattern

This is how I hear the song. You might hear it another way, so experiment with your own patterns. Every row represents 8 beats of the music. Every symbol represents the type of choreography that happens during that beat of music.

Symbol Key:

X = Arms alternate pushing forward, and then to the side (push the water forward with the right palm, push the water forward with the left palm, push the water to the right side with the right palm, push the water to the left side with the left palm, etc...) Legs move in a standard wide leg aquatic jog.

O = Very slow Lambada, about 1/4 the usual Lambada tempo. Legs alternate right, left, right... left, right left. Hips are engaged pushing away from the body on the supporting leg. Arms are slightly flexed at the elbow, and wrists rotate in a breast stroke motion.

# = The Lambada continues, however on the fourth beat the free leg remains extended and crosses the body, working the inner and outer thigh. The arms continue as above however during the fourth beat the arm on the same side as the crossing leg pushes through the water in the opposite direction.
